Collaborations

CBMM understands that a holistic approach to service delivery requires spirited collaboration with many partners.  To that end CBMM has effectively established effective long term relationships with like-minded organizations.

Appalachian Mountain Club:
The mission of the AMC’s Youth Opportunities Program (YOP) is to make the outdoors accessible and meaningful to urban and at-risk youth. Led by CBMM mentors who have completed AMCs Outdoor Leadership Training, PRI students have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of meaningful outdoor experiences, including hiking, camping, snowshoeing and canoeing,  with adults who know them and their unique needs. These outdoor adventure experiences provide youth with the opportunity to develop:

  • Leadership skills
  • Self-confidence and self-respect
  • Trust
  • A sense of responsibility for self, others, the community, and the environment
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Teamwork experience
  • Decision-making skills

Sea and Surf Anglers:
Annually the members of the Sea and Surf Anglers invite the young men of the Paul Robeson  Institute to join them for deep sea fishing on a chartered fishing craft.  These outings provide an opportunity for multiple generations to engage in the love of fishing and the beauty of the open sea.

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc:
Over the years CBMM and the Kappas have worked closely to sharply  focus on youth leadership issues.  Volunteers from both undergraduate and graduate chapters work along side CBMM/PRI volunteers and mentors to providing  a steady stream of dedicated resources to assist in sessions.  In recent years this focuson leadership has resulted in the establishment of  Boston Kappa Leadership Development League (Kappa League chapter), where high school students meet monthly to discuss community challenges and execute community service projects.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc:
The men of Alpha Phi Alpha commit annually to educating our young men on STDs and safe sex strategies through their Project Alpha curriculum. The content is delivered through a mix of multi-media presentations and small group discussions.
